Custom Itineraries

John Skelton Travels charges a per-trip research and planning fee starting at $500, which is non-refundable and non-transferable and due just after the initial consultation. The trip fee includes consultation, research, planning, and quote preparation. During this introductory stage, we also are tapping into our global network of preferred suppliers, as well as our professional expertise. 

Once the itinerary is just how you like it, we confirm and service all parts of the trip: flights if needed, accommodations, transfers, on the ground transportation, guided tours and activities.  

Digital documents (PDF and use of exclusive app) are included in all custom itinerary planning fees. Paper documents are available for an additional fee of $100+ per set/address, which includes printing, binding, and shipping. 

We also offer Concierge service: recommendations for unique experiences, theater tickets, restaurants, local attractions, etc. are complimentary once itinerary is confirmed and deposited. We can then make spa and dining reservations on request, subject to a fee starting at $150 per hour with a 1-hour minimum.

John Skelton Travels also offers self-drive consultation planning starting at $150 per travel day for up to four travelers. Additional travelers are $50 per person per travel day. This includes research and planning, recommendations or things to see and do along the way, digital documents and access to exclusive travel app. 

Hotel Only 

John Skelton Travels waives the planning fee for established clients on single, hotel-only bookings where the traveler has picked the destination and property as this oftentimes will allow our clients to enjoy additional negotiated amenities and other benefits. The same holds true for bookings made via John Skelton Travels Hotel Desk’s Virtuoso Online Portal. Changes and cancellations are subject to fees (see below).

Cruise Only

John Skelton Travels waives the planning fee for established clients on single, cruise-only bookings where the client has picked the destination and route as this oftentimes will allow our clients to enjoy additional negotiated amenities and other benefits. For pre and post cruise itineraries, fees will vary depending on complexity, and will start at $500. For more complex collaboration on selecting cruise and customizing travel experience, the planning fee starts at $750. For multi-cabin bookings (3 staterooms or more), the planning and cruise coordinating fee starts at $300 per cabin. Flights are subject to fees (see below).

Group Trips

John Skelton Travels charges a $100-200 fee per room depending on group size and complexity of request when booking 5 or more rooms. 

Rush/Holiday Trips

John Skelton Travels charges a per-trip research and planning fee starting at $750 for any custom trips within two weeks of intended departure or over peak winter holidays. 

Flight Ticketing

John Skelton Travels can assist with all air bookings worldwide, both domestic and international, commercial and private. 

Commercial Flights:

• Domestic Flights (Roundtrip): $75
• International Flights (Roundtrip): $100
• Multi-destination Flights (domestic & international): from $150 depending on complexity of itinerary

All prices are per ticket. Change and rebooking fees will apply.

Ticketing fees include tracking and monitoring of flights and assistance while traveling during office hours of Air Desk (Monday-Friday 10am-7pm EST). Calls to Air Desk for assistance outside of office hours will incur a fee from $50-100 per call depending on complexity of request.

Private Aviation:

Domestic & International: from $200 depending on complexity of itinerary (includes coordination of transfers, lounge access, etc.)

All prices are per person. Change and rebooking fees will apply.

Cancellation/Change Policy

John Skelton Travels charges the following fees for changes or cancellations:

• Custom Itineraries: starting at $350 to be charged to the credit card on file should the trip be cancelled for any reason
• Hotels: $150 cancellation fee per room, $200 cancellation fee per room if cancelled within 24 hours of arrival
• Cruises: $250 cancellation fee per stateroom ($200 per stateroom if part of a group of 5 or more cabins)
• Group Trips: $100-200 per room depending on group size and complexity of request when part of a group of 5 or more rooms
• Flights: $75 (domestic) and $100 (international) per ticket for cancellation, reissue or exchange, in addition to any supplier-imposed penalties. Penalties depend on airline booking terms and conditions.
• Private Aviation: $200 per person for any itinerary changes or cancellations
• Last-minute changes: $200 for any itinerary changes made within 5 days of departure

The above cancellation fees are in addition to any individual supplier fees, which are outlined in each trip’s terms and conditions.
